Title: ULTIMATE TEST FOR TOYOTA GENUINE ACCESSORIES
Date: Mon, Jul 30th, 2007 20:20:03 pm

The Toyota Genuine brand passed a real-life endurance test when a convoy of Toyota four-wheel drive vehicles, fitted with Toyota Genuine Accessories, emerged in top shape from 12 days in the remote outback of the Northern Territory and Western Australia.

The trip - dubbed the 'Over the Top 4WD Adventure' - proved Toyota Australia's commitment to developing Genuine Accessories that can handle the harshest of Australian conditions.

The trip was organised to give 16 Toyota Dealer Principals, 16 Toyota competition winners and 12 Blue Chip Fleet and Government clients, the exhilarating opportunity to venture off-road.

The vehicles and occupants covered 4500 kilometres between Broome and Darwin and through the Litchfield National Park crossing the rugged outback Kimberley region, in two six-day one-way, and one three day trips.

Twelve of Toyota's hardest working 4WDs tackled the trip, including four Prados (VX & GXL petrol & diesel models), four LandCruiser 100 GXL V8s, two V8 Turbo Diesel LandCruiser 70 GXL Wagons and two LandCruiser 70 GXL Troop Carriers.

"The Toyota Genuine range of protective accessories - from bull bars to rubber floor mats and headlamp covers to cargo barriers - was essential to providing passenger safety and peace of mind on this trip," said Matthew Callachor, divisional manager for Toyota's Customer Services Division.

"Toyota Genuine Accessories are built tough, are specifically designed for each Toyota vehicle and rigorously tested to ensure they meet the demands of both the regular and more extreme driving conditions found in Australia," he said.

Other Toyota Genuine Accessories fitted to the vehicles included weathershields, bonnet protectors, side rails and driving lights.

"This was the ultimate test of strength for Toyota Genuine Accessories. There are few terrains in Australia harsher on vehicles than the roads through Kimberley," said Mr Callachor.

"The Gibb River Road is 650 kilometers of unpaved, rarely graded road, providing the Toyota Genuine Accessories the chance to pit their strength, reliability and endurance against the raw forces of nature," he said.

The trip commenced at the tail end of the wet season so several of the vehicles were also fitted with a Toyota Genuine Superwinch in case of bogging incidents.

"Fortunately, we didn't need to use any of the rescue gear as the vehicles performed well and trip went very smoothly." said Mike Taylor, Toyota's Business and Government Fleet Sales Manger, who hosted the trip.

"It was reassuring to have all the Toyota Genuine Accessories on board. They proved invaluable in terms of protecting the vehicles from scrapes and bumps, whilst providing the customers with piece of mind regarding their safety and ease of loading and unloading the vehicles." he said.

Toyota Genuine Accessories are specifically designed and tested to fit and protect specific Toyota models, ensuring airbag deployment and other safety features are not impeded in case of a sudden stop or accident.
